The church dates back to Norman times, about the eleventh century, though a

church was probably here in Saxon times, a thousand years ago. It was thought to

have been a stopping place on pilgrimages to Glastonbury. It has an unusual 3-sided

communion rail at the altar, and still has the old box pews, containing pegs for hats

when men wore hats to church.
